The composition demystifies the classic single, unbroken tower form, creating a sense of two volumes that may be viewed as two companion editions in a single book.

In the interiors, it usually delivers on the concept, albeit in a typically unevenly fashion. There’s no traditional lobby, though, because instead, the residents come in through a two-layered library, which is encircled by a wooden spiral staircase and has a veritable library of about ten thousand books. Some of which won’t have been published until the latter half of the twentieth century. As below a dome-shaped map-memorial ceiling, and the reception area itself is formed from books stacked and bound together where a check-out counter might normally be found. Residents who prefer to work and not read can find a dedicated writers room with a closed door, a desk and a reading lamp in this room, while those who just need a bit of quiet, soft seating near the shelves will find it in the reading lounge on the library’s ground floor.

The concept of the library is implemented to the very tip of the slightest architectural details within the dwellings inside. Each apartment assumes that the person living in it will want to have more books, and have many more books. The bedroom present hard-wired shelf is built into the living area, a reading lamp is placed just at hand’s reach next to a deep lounge chair pointing towards the skyline, and in the bedroom a wall shelf slopes close to the bed making it possible to reach unseen items without getting out of bed. A chapter on one side, coffee on the other becomes the rhythm and never an afterthought – there’s a lit bookshelf in the kitchen next to the coffee station.
